About Our Library

Jackson County Genealogy Library (JCGL) is operated by the Rogue Valley Genealogical Society--a not-for-profit institution. The library is located in the Rogue River Valley in Southern Oregon. Gold was discovered in the vicinity of Jacksonville in 1852 which led to an enthusiastic gold rush, with miners eagerly pursuing their personal fortunes. Similarly, genealogists searching the JCGL website will be able to find valuable nuggets of information about people who traveled the Oregon Trail to make their homes in this fertile valley. Follow this link, About Us, for our contact information, location, facilities, and hours of operation.

JCGL maintains the largest genealogical collection between Portland, Oregon and Sacramento, California. This collection has become available to researchers worldwide through indexes posted on our website. We feature Oregon pioneer records and vital records (births, marriages, deaths) but regularly add new indexes and resources.

Some of our records are free, for others we charge a nominal handling fee to recover our costs. Follow the links above to see what we have to offer or use the Google Search above to search our site.

Follow this link, What's New, to see what we have added recently.

If you prefer, our staff can do research for you at the rate of $15 per hour. Follow this link, About Us, to learn how to request research help.

If you order anything from Amazon by using the link below, Amazon passes on a portion of the total purchase price to Jackson County Genealogy Library. This only works if you use the link below.
