Cash-Sales Entry Act

The Cash Entry Act of April 24,1820 (3 stat. 566), as applied in Jackson County, allowed the outright purchase of federal land. The law did not permit more that one DLC or homestead claim per pioneer settler. This popular act served to fill in the fertile unclaimed lands connecting previously successful claims.

As in the case of the Homestead Act claimants, the names of claimants under the Sale-Cash Entry act are provided as a complimentary research aide for our website patrons. Cash Entry files are housed in the Portland, OR BLM Headquarters Office. Those records are not included in our library collection at this time. However, township maps, area maps, and complimentary legal descriptions of the land are available through the library research request process.
